Shortening the gas piston

If you need to shorten the gas piston for an SBR or pistol build here's a little trick I came up with. Cut the center section out of the gas piston and trim them so that they are the correct length with equal stubs on each end. Using a roll (Tension) pin that has a slightly smaller ID than the piston arm press the two ends of the piston together. I have a pistol build that has over 500 rounds through it without an issue. This method will also allow you to pull the piston apart and make adjustments if the finish length is too long. Once you have it set where it needs to be you can send it off to one of the board members that make short pistons and know that the one you get back will be the correct size.
