This was my first attempt to rivet a receiver.

I tried the different styles of bolt cutter rivet tools and found that they failed after 2 or 3 rivets. The problem is that too much metal is removed in order to get at all of the rivets. What I did was set up the bolt cutters to do the 4 upper rivets from the front of the trunnion. This required the removal of less metal and made the process very quick and easy. I use a .125" backing plate to "Buck" the rivet from the outside.
